Nike Kinect Training

Towards the end of last year we bought a Kinect. For those of you that don’t know, the Kinect is connected to an XBox and uses sensors to track your body allowing you to play selected games without a controller. This is absolutely amazing when you think of it and has brought gaming to a whole new level for me as I am seriously uncoordinated with a controller. Anyhoo… In playing around with the XBox and Kinect earlier this year, we happened upon a demo version of the Nike Kinect Training. Both Gary and I tried it out and I was hooked! The “Get Fit” bug had bitten again but this time I vowed I’d last longer than just a few days. So I went out and bought the full version and started my workouts last week.


I will be doing a full review for Girl Guides, but imagine the iPhone app version of Nike Training (reviewed in this post back in 2011) as bigger and better and you’ll get an understanding of the Kinect version. It really is like having your own personal trainer who scolds you when your body position is incorrect, or when you’re doing the moves too quickly.

To start with I have signed up for a 4 week challenge doing a workout three times a week. My social life does seem to get in the way, but for the most part I have stuck to my workout days. I’m hoping that after this challenge I’ll start seeing results as I really am impatient. If not, then at least I know my muscles are working as they cry out in pain the day after each workout…
