African Fashion Week

On Friday I was lucky enough to attend the African Fashion Week. And lucky enough that the shows were running very late that I got to watch two shows and not just one! Score!

Before I go into detail about the evening, I just want to say thanks to Southern Sun for sponsoring my tickets and for hosting us in their VIP suite.

The first show we saw was the lines of Jacob Kimmie followed by Madam Wokie. There were one or two outfits I could see myself buying/wearing but for the most part they were a little “out there”. Not to mention the sheer/see-through shirts which showed off the models’ not-so-nice boobs.

After the first show we took a brief walk through the stalls exhibiting the designers. I came across this little gem which I have since subscribed to…

After some more to eat and drink, we took our seats for the much anticipated swimwear show… The first few pieces that came onto the runway were for men and were worn by men with the most amazing bodies. They gave a new definition to the term “six packs”! Unfortunately I didn’t get any pics as we were quite far away and the lighting wasn’t great.

Again I saw a few items that I could see myself wearing (bikini’s and one-pieces). They were made by the designers Dax Martin and I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for the name when I next go shopping (though I have no idea if they hold stock with any of the normal retailers).

Even though the shows ran way over time and we got home way later than planned, this was the most fun I have had on a Friday night in a long time!

Did you get up to anything exciting?!

  1. Sounds like it was fantastic. And with the VIP suite as the cherry on top 🙂
